WHERE IT ALL STARTED
Working alongside Savile Row tailors, Founder Matt and Creative Director Henry set about creating the most luxurious short that men would actually want to wear all day without compromising on style, fit and most importantly comfort. Fed up of the restrictive slim-fit shorts often badged as tailored & offering of over priced inferior materials, they set about to create the hallmark of male swimwear industry.
With the Brand’s uncompromisable pursuit towards quality, there could only be one place to produce the Savile Row tailored garment they imagined – right here in London. After years of development and refinement their chosen design was ready, boasting a 29 signature-piece pattern that has to go through 17 hand finished stages before the wrapping of a finished pair of shorts.
Carefully designed and cut to allow them to be worn all day, as comfortably in a restaurant as in the sea. The exterior of the short is designed to be the highest quality casual tailored garment, cut from classic casual tailoring cloths that have been woven in modern fibres to give the same appearance and comfort as you’d expect from your favourite tailored trousers, whilst still offering quick drying performance and hard wearing resistance to salt and chlorinated water, among other elements.
Frustrated at cheap metal clasp fastenings and drawstrings that cannot be worn with a shirt without clumped exposure. The unique fit they developed is neat and smart but allows ease of movement through the leg via the world’s first integral side adjustable covered back belt in a swim short & french fly fastening, blending the ease of a draw cord waist with the elegance of tailored detail to adjust with the wearers body and keep the front flat at all times.
This uncompromised quality in fit, extends across the materials and trim selection too, featuring Tahitian Mother of Pearl buttons from Italy, luxurious fabrics woven by specialists in Portugal, zips made to order in Italy and flat buckles cast & finished to the highest bespoke specification from Germany. A World class affair, brought back to Britain for construction and proudly then produced in London.
Aware of the often irritated lining that is corse on the skin, internally there is a pant lining made from the finest quality flexible Olympic sports mesh for unmatched comfort. Featuring 3 Pocket bags have been constructed from the same mesh to allow water to pass straight through. Little details that are recognised and appreciated the moment you put the shorts on.
Finally, before each short leaves our London factory, they are embroidered with our elegant motif, as a sign off of the quality promise. Before being elegantly packaged in a Globetrotter Tube and shipped Worldwide.
Launched in 2017 with a capsule collection that was crowned in their first year as ‘The Best Summer Swim Shorts’ by GQ. The aptly named Clipper shorts were named after the apogee of sailing ships – the jets of their age, famed for their prodigious speeds. And in true form, every aspect has been considered to lift the experience and performance for our customers. Today the Clipper Swim Short is heralded by the press and those in the know as ‘the World’s most luxurious swim short’, adorned by a discerning clientele Worldwide.
